Uruguay 0-1 Argentina
Diego Maradona's Argentina booked their place in next year's World Cup finals last night with a surprise victory in Montevideo.
The victory, clinched with a late goal from the substitute Mario Bolatti goal, ensured Argentina fourth position in the South American standings, behind fellow qualifiers Brazil, Paraguay and Chile.
While Maradona's tenure as Argentina manager has been nothing short of chaotic, with the national icon using over 80 players during qualifying and habitually overlooking several of the nation's leading stars, he will take credit for two decisive moments.
Bolatti, a 78th-minute substitute, scored just minutes after his introduction to win the match, while Maradona's decision to bring on the veteran Martín Palermo against Peru last weekend also led to a goal and a much-needed win. Yet concerns over Argentina's turgid playing style remain as they laboured against a curiously unambitious Uruguay side.
Carlos Tevez and Pablo Aimar started on the bench and Maradona omitted his son-in-law Sergio Aguëro altogether, instead entrusting creative duties to Newcastle's Jonas Gutiérrez and the former Manchester United midfielder Juan Sebastian Veron. The result was the kind of disjointed, humdrum performance that has littered their campaign, typified more by reckless tackles than incisive passing.
In the end Uruguay forced to their own downfall, when Martin Caceres was sent off for hauling down Gutiérrez and Argentina scored from the free-kick.
Uruguay go into a two-leg play-off against the fourth-placed team from North America, Central America and the Caribbean.

BARCELONA PREPARE BID FOR ROBINHO
The European champions may need reinforcements as they will lose Ivory Coast midfielder Yaya Toure during January's African Cup of Nations and will also be without Seydou Keita should Mali qualify for the three-week long tournament in
Angola.
"There are options for us to strengthen (the squad) yes," Begiristain said in an interview with Sport newspaper.
"We will see if any of our defenders can play in central midfield," he added. "It's an option. Depending on that, we could look to buy a forward."
Asked whether Barca would make an offer for Manchester City's Brazilian forward Robinho, Begiristain said: "He is a very interesting footballer and could play (for us) in the Champions League."
Begiristain said the club was still interested in signing Bayern Munich's French forward Franck Ribery should the Bundesliga club put him on the market and added he was sure Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas would move back to Barcelona at some point.
"He's a player who fits the Barca profile," he told Sport. "He was born suckling on football here and one day he will end up playing at the Camp Nou. I am sure."

Nike T90 Ascente match ball 2009/2010
New season, new ball. The three big football leagues—English Premier League, Spainish La Liga, and Italian Serie A— Nike has developed a fancy, new ball for them that’s loaded with all types of hi-tech goodness that may pique your interest. It’s called the T90 Ascente. Goalkeepers will hate it; flashy forwards will love it. What’s so damn special about the ball? The Nike bullet points are: “360 Sweet Spot,” “Longer Range,” “Increased Visibility,” “Higher Accuracy,” and “Greater Speed.”
Breaking those down, the “360 Sweet Spot” refers to the way the ball reacts to being kicked. Usually, footballs have a “sweet spot,” like the “meat” of a baseball bat, that you’re trained to hit for maximum speeds, accuracy, etc. Apparently the T90 Ascente doesn’t have a “sweet spot,” per se, rather that the whole ball is a sweet spot. That is, wherever you kick it, the ball will react as if you’ve kicked the sweet spot. Good news for Quaresma.. Hahaha (Why do sports compilation videos on YouTube always have terrible music?)
Longer range? That’s pretty obvious, right? The ball is constructed in three layers, and this somehow makes the ball travel two ball lengths longer than previous Nike footballs.
The patterns are such that they create a “flicker” as the ball spins. That’ll be helpful on those awful, gray winter days in Liverpool.
If you actually had the ball in your hands, you’d see that its surface is textured to a degree that’s probably a little different than the last ball you kicked. Nike calls it “micro-textured,” which basically lets air flow around the ball more smoothly, creating less resistance, etc. You know, like the dimples on a golf ball.
The T90 Ascenete is also faster than previous balls, traveling at about 22.19 m/s (72.17 feet/s). Something to do with the three-layer construction.
This video will tell u a lot more...

He is Pablo Aimar, who is playing with Portuguese club, Benfica. Aimar which played his last World Cup final in 2002 is expected to play as Maradona's 1st choice partnering Sebastian Veron, depended on how the formation would be.
The video clip below is to celebrate on Aimar's comeback and hope for his best in Argentina's survival...

Maradona in jeopardy??
Maradona, whose side are fighting with elimination in a playoff berth, believes his players will get the victories they need to remain on course for the 2010 finals in South Africa.
The top four in the 10-nation South American group qualify while the team in fifth place, at present Argentina, go into a playoff against the team finishing fourth in the CONCACAF region.
"I didn't expect to get to a situation like this. We have to beat Peru and then win in Uruguay," Maradona told a news conference on Thursday.
"As a coach these are surely (my toughest matches) and I have a lot of confidence in myself," said Argentina's 1986 World Cup-winning captain.
Maradona, set to make a raft of changes, is putting his faith in two players who have not previously been in Argentina's plans since the qualifying series kicked off two years ago.
Benfica midfielder Pablo Aimar, who played at the 2002 World Cup, and Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain look set to start in a revamped attack.
Maradona, who has always admired Aimar's creative game, said he told the midfielder he had him in mind on a visit to Lisbon in January. Aimar struggled with injuries last season.
"I told him to get fit and now he got fit, he's here," said Maradona, who took over as coach from Alfio Basile, who resigned a year ago.
ACE MESSI
Higuain's good form reflected the players's keenness to play for Argentina and get to the World Cup after turning down France, the country of his birth, he said.
With Aimar's Benfica team mate Angel Di Maria back on the left wing after a four-match suspension, only Barcelona's Lionel Messi is set to keep his place in attack from the team that lost the last three qualifiers, scoring one goal, against Ecuador, Brazil and Paraguay.
"He's our ace of spades," said Maradona.
Maradona said he expected Peru, bottom of the group and out of the running, to be dangerous in attack but "when they defend they are not so secure".
Reports have come out of Peru of financial incentives for the Peruvian players to beat Argentina. With Brazil and Paraguay already qualified, five other nations are vying for two automatic berths and the playoff place.
"There's no money that can buy you glory," Maradona said. "In the match, when it's eleven against eleven, (the Argentine players) play for their lives."Rooney hopes for Portugal failure

Wayne Rooney has said he hopes former Manchester United team mate Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal fail to qualify for next year's World Cup in South Africa.
"It would be nice to see Portugal not there because, in the last two tournaments (World Cup 2006, Euro 2004), they've knocked us out," British newspapers quoted him as saying on Friday before England's penultimate World Cup qualifier in Ukraine.
"When we didn't qualify for Euro 2008, we (the United players) got a lot of stick (from Ronaldo)."
England have already qualified for the finals in South Africa while Portugal are third in Group One and must win both their remaining matches against Hungary and Malta while hoping Sweden drop points to reach the playoffs.
Rooney was sent off against Portugal in the 2006 World Cup quarter-final for stamping on Ricardo Carvalho in a match that triggered a media backlash against Ronaldo.
The Portuguese forward had suggested to the referee that Rooney should be sent off and was then seen to wink at his bench when the official did so.
Rooney said he had no doubt that he deserved to be sent off and made clear there were no hard feelings towards Ronaldo, saying the Portuguese had only improved since his move to Real Madrid.
"I've watched his first few games for Real Madrid and he seems to have improved again," he said. "He's passing the ball a lot more as well. Cristiano is definitely the best player around."

Sevilla victory against Real Madrid
Pepe equalised against the run of play but Renato headed a deserved winner in the 67th minute to draw Sevilla level on points with Real and three behind the league leaders, Barcelona.
Real's players had said that Sevilla would provide their biggest challenge so far and the hosts lived up to their billing in the early stages with a number of threatening balls into the Real box. Alvaro Negredo had the best opportunity, but headed over the bar. The Real goalkeeper, Iker Casillas, then had a rush of blood when he charged out of his box to confront Navas, only to see the winger skip away. Raúl Albiol was on hand to head away the danger.
Sevilla continued to make the running and the prolific Luís Fabiano would have been disappointed not to have made better contact after Negredo set him up in the centre of the penalty area, Casillas making a comfortable save.
Real were without Cristiano Ronaldo, who has scored nine goals this season but had failed to recover from the ankle injury he suffered during a midweek Champions League win over Marseille.
Lassana Diarra, Alvaro Arbeloa, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Fernando Gago were also missing and Real lacked cohesion, although Marcelo failed to fully exploit a decent break as he fired into Andrés Palop's midriff.
The game was being played at a frenetic pace with chances at both ends – Karim Benzema could only swipe at fresh air five yards out after good work from Raúl, while Casillas clawed a deflected shot from Navas past the post.
Real did not heed their warning, though, and when Marcelo hesitated in meeting Diego Perotti's cross, Navas nipped in front of his marker and headed the hosts in front.
Guti, Didier Zokora and Diego Perotti all entered the book following an ugly confrontation, with Zokora somewhat fortunate to escape with only a caution after appearing to push Guti in the face.
Navas was proving Real's tormentor in chief and he robbed Marcelo before planting a cross on Fabiano's head, but he could only guide the ball wide. Renato should then have put Sevilla two ahead in the final moments of the first half, but Casillas somehow kept out his point-blank header from Perotti's fine cross.
The Spain goalkeeper pulled off his second miracle stop in the opening moments of the second half, as Negredo's cross found Perotti four yards out. The winger was perhaps too casual with his shot and Casillas dived at full stretch to push the ball away.
Having dominated proceedings, Sevilla found themselves level in the 49th minute when Guti's free-kick was met by a crisp header from Pepe.
Real's coach, Manuel Pellegrini, replaced the ineffectual Benzema with Gonzalo Higuaín, and they came close to taking the lead in the 57th minute as Mahamadou Diarra headed Alonso's corner wide.
The visitors seemed to have at last weathered the Sevilla storm but they inexplicably left Renato unmarked in front of goal and he gleefully headed in Navas' corner.
Real struggled to respond and Casillas had to push Navas' fierce shot behind in the 87th minute. A last-gasp chance for the visitors went begging as Sergio Ramos fired wide.

AC Milan Defeat, pressure on Leonardo
Finnish defender Tihinen was the hero for the Swiss side, back-heeling a 10th-minute corner past Marco Storari in the Milan goal to give the visitors a lead they refused to relinquish. The closest Milan came to salvaging a point was when Gianluca Zambrotta hit the post in the sixth minute of stoppage time.
Despite having 22 efforts on the Zurich goal, the Rossoneri struggled for rhythm and could have been 2-0 down at the break, Xavier Margairaz missing an excellent chance with a quarter of the game gone.
Real Madrid top the group with six points, and will welcome Milan to the Bernabéu in three weeks' time. The Italians have some breathing space, having previously won at Marseille, but after failing to overcome Zurich, manager Leonardo may view consecutive fixtures against Real with growing unease.

_______________________________________________________________________________________
Namun nasib tidak menyebelahi Chelsea dimana Petr Cech dilayangkan kad merah kerana menjatuhkan Rodallega didalam kotak penalti, sekaligus menghadiahkan gol ke-2 Wigan menerusi tendangan penalti deras Rodallega.
Chelsea yg cuba bangkit dikejutkan gol ketiga Wigan oleh Paul Scharner diminit akhir perlawanan.
"Mane jalan kluar ref...??" tanya Cech pada ref Phil Dowd
"Ko jalan terus, nampak simpang 1st ko jgn belok, jalan je terus......" balas ref

Sebelum mereka pergi meninggalkan La Liga dihujung musim mari kita saksikan bagaimana Real Madrid memberi pengajaran berguna buat pasukan kerdil ini..... apapun VIVA LA XEREZ... Haha...!!
p/s: saya benci Real Madrid... hihihi...

Manchester Derby DIHARI RAYA...!
- Nama asal pasukan Man Utd adalah Newton Heath, manakala City digelar West Gorton (St. Marks) ketika ditubuhkan.
9 kemenangan bersama United, 1 bersama City.
- Wayne Rooney telah menjaringkan 5 gol dlm 5 perlawanan, telah menyamai rekod jaringan Carlos Tevez seluruh musim lepas. Sekiranya Rooney tidak menjaringkan gol dlm baki 29 perlawanan nanti, maka nilainya mungkin 25mil pound (harga perpindahan Tevez ke City).
- Perlawanan terakhir mereka musim lepas
Kata-kata aluan...
